Who is Tessarion, the Blue Queen in House of the Dragon?
A closer look at the blue dragon introduced in Season 2.
House of the Dragon has introduced multiple dragons, but only some have been seen. One dragon that recently caught viewers’ attention is Tessarion, known as the Blue Queen. She first appears in Season 2, flying above the Hightower army.
Tessarion’s striking blue color initially caused some confusion among fans, with some mistaking her for Dreamfyre, Queen Helaena’s dragon. It was later confirmed that this was Tessarion belonging to Prince Daeron Targaryen, also known as Daeron the Daring. Here’s what we know about Tessarion, the Blue Queen.

Who is Tessarion, the Blue Queen?
Tessarion is a dragon with cobalt blue scales and copper-colored claws. During the Dance of the Dragons, Tessarion reached a fighting size and became a powerful weapon for Aegon II Targaryen and the greens. Though smaller and younger than other dragons, her speed and blue flames made her a powerful force on the battlefield.
Tessarion was bonded with Prince Daeron Targaryen. During the Dance of the Dragons, she played a crucial role in the Battle of Honeywine, securing a victory for the Hightower army. After the battle, Daeron was knighted and earned the title “Daeron the Daring.” Though he humbly credited Tessarion for their success, the war grew more violent. In a fit of rage after his nephew was killed by an angry mob, Daeron and Tessarion burned the town of Bitterbridge to the ground.
Tessarion met a tragic fate at the Second Battle of Tumbleton. As Prince Daeron led the greens, they were attacked by surprise. Daeron was killed during the battle, with some saying he died in the fire, while others claim a soldier slew him. Even after Daeron’s death, Tessarion continued to fight fiercely. She clashed with the dragons Vermithor and Seasmoke but was mortally wounded in the battle. Despite her injuries, Tessarion attempted to fly but could not survive. Eventually, an archer ended her suffering with a final shot.

Tessarion in House of the Dragon
In Season 2 of House of the Dragon, Tessarion is introduced flying above the Hightower army as they march into battle.
Tessarion hatched during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen. She bonded with Daeron and lived with him in Oldtown. Her scales were cobalt blue, and her wings and frills were copper-colored.
During a meeting of the Green Council, Lord Jasper Wylde advised King Aegon II to unleash Daeron and Tessarion from Oldtown. He suggested they could help bring the Riverlands under control. Tessarion was approaching the age of battle, and her strength could turn the tide.
At another Green Council meeting, Jasper Wylde told Prince Aemond that Tessarion and Daeron had joined the fight. Their loyalty to the cause strengthened the council’s confidence. However, their discussion was interrupted by the arrival of Silverwing and Ulf.
