Where is Otto Hightower in House of the Dragon Season 2 finale? Rhys Ifans comments on Otto Hightower’s fate
Where in the world is Otto Hightower and why was he locked in a cell? Does Rhys Ifans know?
The second season of House of the Dragon concluded earlier this year. While fans eagerly anticipate the next installment of the Targaryen story, HBO is gearing up for additional Game of Thrones spinoffs. The season finale generated significant excitement for the upcoming battles, though there is a wait ahead before they unfold. One of the suspenseful moments involved the uncertainty of Otto Hightower’s location in the Season 2 finale.
Rhys Ifans opens up on Otto Hightower’s season 2 cliffhanger scene
Ever since the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale aired, fans have been scrambling for clues as it ended with several cliffhangers. One of them was Otto Hightower, who was locked in an unknown location. In an interview with Inverse, Rhys Ifans said,
“I’m an actor, so we’ll be the last people to know what’s going on in our characters. I haven’t been told by anyone with any kind of conviction or authority where exactly he is at that point. All we know is that he’s still alive somewhere in that world, and that’s as much as I know too. I know as much as the fans.”
Where is Otto Hightower right now?
It seems like, just like Matt Smith and the rest of the cast, Rhys Ifans has yet to receive the script. The unexpected scene at the end of House of the Dragon Season 2 depicts Otto Hightower in a cage, following his departure from the palace after being replaced by Criston Cole as the Hand. This detail is not found in the books, which has left fans perplexed. This twist might shed light on why Otto has not been replying to Aemond’s messages. It’s possible that he was captured by the Blacks, or perhaps he was imprisoned by the citizens of Oldtown, including his brother Ormund Hightower, for reasons yet to be revealed.
