Tom Glynn-Carney was cast after just one audition as Aegon II in House of the Dragon
Here’s how Tom Glynn-Carney bagged the role of Aegon II.

Actor Tom Glynn-Carney was first seen in Dunkirk, a movie that got him into the primary spotlight. He made an impact on the audiences with that one role. And now, he’s enjoying the love and admiration fans are showering him with for his portrayal of the unkind and immature Aegon II in House of the Dragon.
Season 2 of the HBO prequel show is showcasing the turning point in the Targaryen family history with the Dance of the Dragons. Half-siblings Rhaenyra and Aegon II are feuding over the Iron Throne, the ultimate power in the world of Westeros.

Tom Glynn-Carney shares his audition process for House of the Dragon
Unlike other actors who went through multiple rounds of auditions and even camera tests, Tom Glynn-Carney had a pretty smooth audition process. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, the actor revealed how it only took one self-tape for the showrunners to cast Carney as Aegon II. He said,
“Mine was really straightforward I just did a tape and had a zoom the next day with Ryan and Miguel.”
His co-star Phia Saban and the host were impressed and claimed that both the showrunners must have loved Carney’s audition tape. It’s rare to have show creators cast an important role such as Aegon II after just one round of audition. We don’t need further proof of Carney’s acting abilities. In House of the Dragon season 2 episode 2, he showcases his incredible range with every emotion on the spectrum. He embraces power and grief equally well on screen, leaving viewers mesmerized.
The upcoming episodes of House of the Dragon season 2 will further test Carney’s skill as the real war is yet to begin. He has done a commendable job till now and fans hope to see him continue to grow as an actor.
