Television giant HBO has been churning out hits-after-hits every year ever since its establishment. While 2022 belonged to the Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon, the year 2023 is off to a great start with The Last of Us. The video game adaptation is already being nominated for a number of awards, and showrunner Craig Mazin hopes the show will go beyond season 2.

The Last of Us has “a lot more stories to tell”

At an hour-long panel at the National Association of Broadcasters, as reported by Deadline, Mazin said that there’s still “quite a bit of story to tell” in the video game adaptation. “Our plan is to do it not just for one more season,” he said. “We should be around for a while.”

The Last of Us showrunner hints at covering the time gap between Part I & II early in the show

Craig Mazin, The Last of Us co-showrunner, said this in his recent interview with TheGamer“Of course, in the second game, there’s a primary shift in time, but there are also moments that you see, that are in between the events of the main storyline of The Last of Us Part II and the storyline of The Last of Us Part I.”

What can we expect from The Last of Us Season 2?

Showrunner Craig Mazin teased the reporters about what’s to come in Season 2, “Sometimes it will be different radically and sometimes it will be barely different at all, but it’s going to be different and it will be its own thing. It won’t be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil and I want to make. We are making it with Bella.”
