House of The Dragon showrunner teases Game of Thrones-like storytelling in Season 2
Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon was the most hyped show of 2022. So far it has checked out all the parameters that were placed before its premiere. The series was renewed for a second season even before the finale was aired, and fans are already looking forward to revisiting Westeros. Showrunner Ryan Condal recently teased what we can expect from Season 2.
House of The Dragon will follow the traditional storytelling style of Game of Thrones
In his recent visit to Deadline’s Contenders TV panel, Condal explained what we can see more of in House of The Dragon Season 2, “I’m excited to pick up where we left off. Now we get to fall into the more traditional rhythms of storytelling and Game of Thrones. We’ve always talked about this particular tale, George [R.R. Martin] has too, of being a Shakespearean or Greek tragedy. This series is very much about a house tearing itself apart from within. Now that all those pieces have been set on the board, I’m really excited to tell the next chapter, to see what happens now that Viserys is gone and no longer keeping a lid on things.”
How many episodes will House of The Dragon Season 2 have?
The second season of House of The Dragon will reportedly be shorter than the previous one. According to a report by Deadline, the Game of Thrones prequel will have an 8-episode long Season 2, 2 episodes shorter than Season 1. An HBO spokesperson confirmed that the reason behind the shorter season was not because of a lack of budget, but rather a story-driven choice.
When will House of The Dragon return?
The filming of House of The Dragon season 2 has just begun production, with the casting process almost complete and the sets being constructed at key locations. HBO chief Casey Bloys has confirmed in an indirect way that House of The Dragon won’t be coming back before the summer of 2024.
