Game of Thrones fans debate whether Sansa Stark is a villain, Sophie Turner reacts
It all started on Twitter, as it usually does. A self-proclaimed “dany loyalist” tweeted “One thing I love about the GoT show universe is it’s portrayals of the most heartless and cruel villains. No other show or movie makes you as invested in watching their downfall, it almost feels personal.” It included images of Joffrey Baratheon, Ramsay Bolton, Aegon the Second, and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). The tweet presently sits at over 14 thousand likes and 8 thousand retweets. Fans are rushed to Sansa’s defense.

Sansa Stark might have made a few wrong decisions but that makes her far from a villainous character. She was skeptical of Daenerys because she had been betrayed by every authority figure she ever trusted. The beauty of A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones is that most of the characters are morally grey. This is what makes the show more unpredictable and interesting. Fans had a lot to say about people calling Sansa a villain.
tw rape and abuse
if you want to dislike sansa, fine. no one is gonna stop you. but to compare her, a victim of rape and abuse, with a bunch of rapists and abusers, two of which were literally hers, is just downright weird and disgusting. your hate is clouding your braincells. https://t.co/kMpelTXP34

Joffrey: killed/tortured people. Ramsay: sadistic rapist who fed a baby to his dogs. Aemon: rapist. Sansa (checks notes): wasn't trusting of a foreign queen wanting her to bow to her at threat of death after years of abuse. Idk. Smells like internalized misogyny to me, Cotton https://t.co/LfDZOkEidl

do you believe she was a cruel conniving villain when she was being relentlessly abused by her captors and forced to be a child bride at 13.

I'm gonna pretend that you didn't put Sansa Stark aka The Queen in the North next to the 2 Abusive Rapist Pieces of Shits that made her life a living hell and the Rapist Piece of Shit of House of the Dragon. Really? Sansa? A Villain? Fuck Outta Here. https://t.co/Yg91II7s1Z

It’s shocking how someone can consider Sansa one of the top villains when Cersei and Littlefinger exist. Sophie Turner shared a photo of one of her last scenes in Game of Thrones on her Instagram story. The photo shows her as Sansa wearing the crown of The Queen in the North. And a picture speaks a thousand words. She shut down people hating on her character by implying that they can say whatever they want, but Sansa won the Game of Thrones anyway.
