Theories
Wild theory suggests Aegon may not be the father of Helaena’s kids on House of the Dragon
In the real world, you would hope that a brother is not the father of his sister’s children. But in the case of the Targaryens, they hope otherwise. That’s why it is shocking when a fan theory suggests that Helaena Targaryen’s children are not Aegon Targaryen’s. By episode 9 of the show, the sibling-couple share a pair of twins, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. But fans think they’re Aemond’s (also Helaena’s brother). This might be supported by what Helaena says in episode 9, “It is our fate, I think, to crave always what is given to another.”
they are really going with the kids are Aemond's because listen after Alicent say "Father" the twins are babble "Aemond" pic.twitter.com/meMdL47q6E

Helaena and Aemond
We see the scene shift to Helaena and her kids in the frame as she says, “If one possesses a thing, the other will take it away.” If she and Aemond are having an affair, her lines make sense to her situation. Alicent forces Aegon to marry Helaena. In episode 5, Aemond admits that he would marry her if it came to that. As we see in episode 9, Aemond does want to be the King as he wishes for Aegon to stay lost. If the twins are Aemond’s children, he did “take away” something (Helaena, and Aegon’s heirs) that was “given to another (Aegon)”. And one thing we should have learned by now is never to dismiss what Helaena is saying.
The user also pointed out how the children have straight hair, like Aemond, instead of Aegon and Helaena’s wavy hair, courtesy of their mother. In the scene where Alicent and Otto enter Helaena’s chambers, the kids babble something quite close to “Aemond” right after Alicent calls out “Father”. A few seconds later, Aemond enters the room.
It is not out of the realm of possibility for Aemond to be the father of Helaena’s children. Aegon has made it clear that he has no interest in Helaena. Aemond seems to be her only companion and someone who stands up for her when her husband insults her. Along with that, the timing of the child’s babble makes it too good to be a coincidence. And if this theory is true, it would bring the Blood and Cheese “a son for a son” storyline to a whole new level.
What do you think of this theory? Rewatch the scene and let us know if you heard “Aemond,” too. Join our discord server for more such discussions.
