New House of The Dragon sets being erected in the Spanish town of Trujillo
The production for Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is in full swing. We have already seen pictures of new sets being erected at Leavesden Studios in the UK, with filming currently going on as we speak. Once the filming at Leavesden is complete, the production will move to the Spanish cities Cáceres and Trujillo, which feature iconic locations that were used in both Game of Thrones and House of The Dragon season 1.
New sets are being erected for House of The Dragon Season 2 at Trujillo
According to a recent report by the Twitter fan account House the Dragons, the House of The Dragon Season 2 team has already started setting up the sets in the Plaza Mayor of Trujillo in Spain. A number of other locations have also been marked out for shooting, which is due in May.

Filming for House of The Dragon Season 2 will take place in May in Cáceres and Trujillo
The city council of both the Spanish cities is already flowing Targaryen flags to welcome the cast and crew of House of The Dragon. According to the Twitter account House the Dragons, filming in Cáceres and Trujillo will start on May 18th and should last about a week. Local newspapers have also reported that HBO has already booked 100 hotel rooms for the team.
When will House of The Dragon return?
The filming of House of The Dragon season 2 has just begun production, with the casting process almost complete and the sets being constructed at key locations. HBO chief Casey Bloys has confirmed in an indirect way that House of The Dragon won’t be coming back before the summer of 2024.
