Interview
Maisie Williams felt “lost” while filming Game of Thrones as a child actor

Several of the actors on Game of Thrones began very young before blossoming into the bold personalities we have come to know and love today. As the seasons progressed, the young stars who portrayed the show’s characters grew up with it; several of them are now well-known performers. Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark on the show, is unquestionably one of them. However, it was not all shine and sparkles for her on the set.
Maisie Williams felt lost as a child on the set of Game of Thrones
Maisie Williams was very young when she started on Game of Thrones. At the age of 12, her character, Arya, became a fan-favorite character. However, all that fame was too much for young Maisie. She told The Times in a recent interview,
“I was so lost for so long and I knew that I was, and when I couldn’t pin down what I felt my identity was within that, it brought me a lot of discomfort. Now I feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin. It’s hard to even put myself back there and talk about how tough it was just because I think it’s done.”
Maisie Williams was devasted on re-watching Ned Stark die
Ned Stark’s death is still one of the most shocking incidents on Game of Thrones. And Williams agrees. In a recent interview, The New Look star states,
“So I sat down and watched the whole thing. And finally, now I feel like I have a perspective on it. I was devastated when Ned died. I was like, “I can’t believe they did that!” It just feels like a different time in my life. Like it’s not me, a little bit. So now I just got the time to watch it kind of for the first time.”
