We might see King Jaehaerys I in House of the Dragon Season 2 flashbacks, fans speculate

At the beginning of House of the Dragon season 1, we saw King Jaehaerys make a brief appearance. The frail old king was in the last days of his life and had to choose his successor. His own kids may have passed away, but Jaehaerys had the choice between his three grandchildren – Viserys, Daemon, and Rhaenys.

Fans are speculating that King Jaehaerys will make an appearance in the second season of House of the Dragon. This is because the actor who plays King Jaehaerys, Michael Carter has season 2 listed on IMDB. The character may appear in the flashback scene when Viserys learns about the prophecy that is meant to be passed down from one king to another.

This prophecy is also the reason behind such a battle between the Greens and the Blacks and Alicent failed to interpret it correctly. The Targaryens should learn from such mistakes and not give their kids the same names as their ancestors.

Jaehaerys proved to be a great ruler of the realm and ushered in a new era of stability and peace. He was never intended to be King himself but troubles with the other heirs forced him to embrace the responsibility. In the possible flashback scene in House of the Dragon season 2, we might see Jaehaerys pass this wisdom on to Viserys.

On the other hand, there have been no claims about Paddy Constantine returning as Viserys. So, it might be so that Jaehaerys is seen in an alternate fate where he chooses either Rhaena or Daemon to be king. At the end of the day, all such claims are mere speculations. We will have to wait till June 16 to watch the story unfold.
