Joffrey actor Jack Gleeson says he has “never had any negative fan experiences”
Jack Gleeson, best known for playing the downright evil Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones, has surprised fans after revealing that he has never had a bad fan encounter. This is especially shocking after lots of outlets reported a rumor which stated Gleeson gave up acting because fans hated him in real life. “Is Joffrey nice in real life?” still comes as one of the top searches related to him on Google.
During a Q&A session with the stars at the Game of Thrones Convention in Los Angeles, Gleeson said, “Thankfully, I’ve never had any negative fan experiences or anything… There’s still a chance if anybody wants to throw a punch. A lot of people come up to me because I guess this rumor started that people were horrible to me on the street or I get attacked… whereas I’ve never had one negative experience.”
“I feel like people are extra nice to me because they think people attack me, so maybe I should keep the rumor going,” said the actor. He also discussed how the one memorable negative of playing Joffrey was that he would get recognized too much. “While I was filming Game of Thrones, I was also in university in Dublin, and even though since I was a kid all I wanted to be was a celebrity when I became famous, I then realized… whenever I go to a pub, all of my friends then just have to become photographers because people give them their phone and then their night is ruined.”
Apart from that, he assured fans that “every interaction was perfectly lovely and perfectly nice.”
