Some of the world’s greatest performers were part of the Game of Thrones cast. Many of them went on to star in other popular franchises like Star Wars, the DCEU, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Indira Varma, who played Ellaria Sand on Game of Thrones before, last appeared as Tala in the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series. Varma will now be seen in a modern rendition of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Indira Varma joins Ralph Fiennes for Macbeth

Two of the UK’s leading stars, Fiennes and Varma star in a new version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Fiennes plays Macbeth, while Indira Varma stars as Lady Macbeth, and an elaborate stage, far different from traditional ones, has been created for the show. The new set, located at The Depot in Liverpool, imitates a mock war zone. Audience have to walk through this modern reimagining of Macbeth’s battlefield, which sets the haunting surrounding before they take their seats in the makeshift auditorium.

Who else is in the cast of Macbeth?

Joining Fiennes and Varma as the two leads are Ben Allen as Ross, Ewan Black as Malcolm, Levi Brown as Angus, Jonathon Case as Seyton, Danielle Fiamanya as Second Witch, Keith Fleming as King Duncan/Siward, Michael Hodgson as Second Murderer, Lucy Mangan as First Witch, Jake Neads as First Murderer/Donalbain, Richard Pepper as Lennox, Steffan Rhodri as Banquo, Rose Riley as Menteith, Lola Shalam as Third Witch, Rebecca Scroggs as Lady Macduff/Doctor, Ethan Thomas as Fleance and Ben Turner as Macduff.

Where and When can you watch Indira Varma’s Macbeth?

The production is now running through December 16, 2023, at The Depot in Liverpool, a specially designed theater. From January 13 to January 27, 2024, it will be shown at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, and from February 10 to March 23, 2024, it will be staged in London at Dock X, Canada Water.
