Pedro Pascal’s Gladiator 2 has already filmed 90 minutes of footage!

Pascal in Game of Thrones as Oberyn Martell

Pedro Pascal has had an extraordinarily successful year in 2023. The Game of Thrones alumnus had a fantastic start to the year in HBO’s The Last of Us, winning over both audiences and reviewers with his depiction of Joel. He received his first-ever Emmy nomination for the role. Post the ending of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Pascal has been very busy, filming not only for The Last of Us, but also Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2.

Pedro Pascal’s Gladiator sequel has already filmed half of its runtime

The upcoming Gladiator sequel is one of the most anticipated films of 2024, and after the huge success of his recent film, Napoleon, director Ridley Scott is hyped about his next film. He told Deadline, “Couple weeks. Thank God it’s over. We shot about 90 minutes. At least that’s finished. It’s really getting the sets cleaned up, they’re already built. I got another 90 minutes to go.”

Gladiator 2 and the AI Controversy

The Gladiator film production was accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) to scan its extras, despite a massive strike that was underway to end the usage of AI. An extra allegedly stated, “They didn’t explain why they were doing this, we thought they were taking us to do another scene”. Some extras claimed they were powerless to change the circumstances; one extra said they “didn’t really feel like we could say no.”
