“I had no idea what I was doing!”: says Bella Ramsey on their time on Game of Thrones
Bella Ramsey, who played the youthful and courageous Lyanna Mormont on the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, won the hearts of millions of fans despite their brief appearance on the show. They are grateful for the chance to play yet another exciting role in HBO’s adaptation of the video game The Last of Us. However, their time on George R. R. Martin’s epic fantasy adaptation was quite confusing to them.
Bella Ramsey had “no idea” what they were doing on Game of Thrones
While Bella Ramsey, as young Lyanna Mormont, was keeping the Lords of the North on their toes by shouting: “The North remembers!”, they had little to no idea of what they were really doing at that age. They told The Guardian in a recent interview, “I was mini! I had no idea what I was doing!”
On being asked if they felt nervous, they replied, “I’m neurodivergent and that’s part of why I feel more understood by adults. It didn’t faze me at all. Being around kids my own age would have been so much harder.”
House of the Dragon’s Emma D’Arcy wrote an excerpt for Bella Ramsey
Ramsey was recently listed in Time magazine’s 2023 TIME100 Next, and D’Arcy was chosen to write a few words for her. They wrote:
“When I think of Bella Ramsey, the phrase that comes to mind is radical honesty. Onscreen and off, their remarkable power is in an outright refusal of pretense or persona, choosing instead the riskier path: candor, generosity, and the bravery to be. The result is a formidable actor, and one of the most charming people you could meet.
Bella’s captivating screen presence has been undeniable from the start. Their first professional acting gig, seen by millions, was met with universal acclaim. Bella was only 11.”
