The latest stills from House of the Dragon season 2 feature Criston Cole and Arryk Cargyll embroiled in a heated conversation. This suggests that House of the Dragon season 2 episode 2 might feature the much-awaited duel between Arykk and Erykk Cargyll.

The twins serve in King Viserys’s Kingsguard. However, when the Dance of the Dragons begins, Arykk supports Aegon II. Erykk chooses to join Rhaenyra’s Queensguard. Subsequently, both of them believe that they are on the right side of the conflict.

Rhaenyra will be present during the Cargyll twins’ duel

When Game of Thrones was released, fans named the rivalry between the Clegane brothers Cleganebowl. A similar term has been coined for the warring Cargyll brothers – Cargyllbowl. Specifically, Cargyllbowl refers to the ultimate showdown between the twin brothers. According to the book, Criston Cole devises a way to end the war without more bloodshed. He sends Arryk to Dragonstone posed as Erykk Cargyll to kill Rhaenyra Targaryen.

However, Erykk Cargyll stops his brother before he can reach the Queen. The two brothers duel to death as they stand firmly in their beliefs. The book suggests that the siblings die together, possibly in each other’s arms. Moreover, fans have spotted Rhaenyra Targaryen in the background of the duel, suggesting she learns of Criston Cole’s strategy.

From recent trailers, we can see Rhaenyra in the background while the Cargyll twins are dueling. It appears the duel may take place with Rharnyra around.
