When you look at a story, you read about a character, you picture in your mind who would be perfect for that role. Game of Thrones was famous for its on-point casting. Actress Emilia Clarke was perfect as the Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen. Daenerys has become a pop culture icon, and whether you like it or not, you have to bow down to the queen when even ‘The Baddest Man on Planet’ calls the character a badass. Hence, it was quite obvious that HBO had to include her in their top 50 most iconic characters over the period of the last 50 years.

HBO recently completed 50 Golden years of its run and will be celebrating the next 50 days by releasing sneak peeks – trailers, behind-the-scenes photos, and more – from upcoming HBO Originals. Moreover, they also released a list of their top 50 most iconic characters over the years from their network, and Game of Thrones’ Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen secured herself a spot.

Daenerys Targaryen rose through fire, ashes, and blood like a true dragon, and went on to become one of the most iconic figures in both Westeros and pop culture. Though a lot of fans were dissatisfied with how her story ended in Game of Thrones Season 8, she remains one of the most easily recognizable characters in HBO’s television history. There are two more Targaryens on the list, Dany #3 being the highest AS SHE SHOULD, Jon #23, and Rhaenyra #42 after just one season.
