George R.R. Martin says The Winds of Winter might be one of his longest books, and has seen more House of The Dragon episodes
George R. R. Martin has always been a busy man, and his schedule tightened a lot after the release of the Game of Thrones TV show, so much so that the series continued further than what he had written. Though he regrets it, he has still not completed the sixth book in the series The Winds of Winter, despite the growing resentment amongst the fans who have been waiting for the novel for nearly a decade. And this time, he not only promises to be working on the much-awaited book, but also on other Game of Thrones spinoffs, the ones HBO chief Casey Bloys earlier referred to in a recent interview.

Martin wrote on his blog Not A Blog:
“THE WINDS OF WINTER is going to be a big book. The way it is going, it could be bigger than A STORM OF STORMS or A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, the longest books in the series to date. I do usually cut and trim once I finish, but I need to finish first.
I saw rough cuts of a couple more episodes of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, and was just as pleased as I was with the earlier episodes. Ryan and Miguel and their cast and crew are doing great work. Those of you who like complex, conflicted, grey characters (as I do) will like this series, I think. There will be plenty of dragons and battles, to be sure, but the spine of the story is the human conflicts, the love and the hate, character drama rather than action/ adventure.
There’s more, there’s more, there’s always more. But that will need to do for now.”
