Game of Thrones dominates the Emmys once again with 23 nominations!
Game of Thrones has continued it’s strong run on Emmys race and it leads the pack with 23 nominations. This is the second year in a row in which Game of Thrones has dominated the Emmys and it is just one short of the record 24 nominations which it received last year. Season 5 had turned out to be a very successful for Game of Thrones as they bagged a record 12 awards, which included 4 Primetime Emmys and 8 Creative Art Emmys.
This year Game of Thrones has been nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series, which it won last year and it was the first time a fantasy series won an Emmy in the category. The other categories include Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, in which Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington have been nominated, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, which has been dominated by Game of Thrones with nominations for Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for which Jack Bender (The Door) and Miguel Sapochnik (Battle of the Bastards) have been nominated.
Even the showrunners,David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have been nominated in the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series category for the Battle of the Bastards episode. Looking at the amount of nominations that Game of Thrones has received, it seems that the show might repeat the success it displayed during the Emmys last year and bag a number of awards. Game of Thrones is followed by The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and Fargo as the 2nd and 3rd most nominated shows. When it comes to the networks, HBO is first with 94 nominations and it is followed by FX and Netflix with 56 and 54 nominations respectively.
