The first season of the hit precursor to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, was completed last year. The show not only broke ratings and audience records, but it is also showcasing its talent in the awards arena. And the two actors leading the charge are the two poles of the show, Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra) and Olivia Cooke (Alicent).

The two actors aren’t just co-stars but best mates, and D’Arcy couldn’t wait to meet their friend the day they arrived. Cooke had already arrived in Cáceres a day before to continue with the shooting festivities and has been spotted in costume on several occasions.

Season 2 will see the start of the civil war, and judging by the production, both sides have already tasted blood. Locals at the filming location in Spain observed that the Greens used a name-calling strategy, referring to Rhaenyra as Rhaenyra the Cruel, following the death of Prince Jaehaerys by Blood and Cheese. Fire & Blood history buffs will be aware that a previous Targaryen monarch had a name that sounds similar.
