In House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, relationships are a hot mess. Things got much harder in Season 1 as these long-suppressed feelings began to come to light. The Targaryens, split between Rhaenyra’s Blacks and Alicent’s Greens, will engage in a bloody civil war despite King Viserys’ tireless attempts. But before that happens, their portrayers, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, took some time to rewatch their Season 1 scenes.

D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, and Cooke, who plays Alicent, took over from their younger versions in episode 6. Looking back at their first scenes, the two reacted:

Olivia: I just remember there was so much pressure, because they were like introducing us as the character. Even though we’d been filming for months at that point. Like it was our introduction.

Emma: I think you probably had the harder job because doing the birthing stuff was so sort of messy and visceral.

Olivia: I dunno, that sounds hard.

Emma: I like it when it’s sort of messy, though.

Rhaenyra and Alicent might have a reunion in Season 2

Though several speculations exist regarding Rhaenyra and Alicent being rejected lovers, it is undeniable that the two are now at odds. In House of the Dragon Season 2, the two former best friends will not be spending much time together as a violent civil war breaks out between them in Westeros. A rumor suggests that the two may truly cross paths on Dragonstone during their encounter in the Season 2 finale.
