Daemon Targaryen infiltrates Harrenhal

In the second episode of House of the Dragon Season 2, Daemon departs alone following a dispute with Rhaenyra. The new episode shows Daemon, accompanied by his dragon Caraxes, single-handedly infiltrate and seize control of Harrenhal under the cover of night. Simon Strong surrenders his castle to him after he descends upon Harrenhal. However, Strong seems to have been supporting the Blacks already, so this comes as an easy win for Daemon, with no struggle.

Why did Daemon capture Harrenhal?

Harrenhal is the largest castle in Westeros; conquering it would only give one strategic advantage as well as acclaim of holding a major castle. Harrenhal is important for Greens, hence they will come over to attack Daemon, leaving King’s Landing for the take for Rhaenyra. Daemon’s strategic brilliance almost secures a victory for the Blacks, setting up a front for their warring moving forward.
