Carice van Houten ‘wouldn’t say no’ to playing Melisandre once again
Game of Thrones wasn’t just the biggest show of the century, it was a huge family and a way of life for so many people for nearly a decade. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, something that not only the fans but the cast and the crew find hard to move away from. A lot of them had their careers skyrocket to unprecedented heights, and still wish to return to the beloved roles they miss dearly. One of them is Game of Thrones actress Carice Van Houten, who longs to play Melisandre, the Red Priestess, once again.
She told Digital Spy, “Would I [return]? If the storyline was good – yes, why not? But I think it would be more fun to show a young Melisandre, or a child Melisandre – to really go deep into her slave routes, because it’s all very… you know, I could go on forever about that.”
“But there is an interesting sort of storyline there, and I think it’s a bit boring to then drag me out again. I think it’s nicer to have another actor do it. But, you know, I wouldn’t say no.”
Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is here, and HBO is already working on several spinoffs alongside the prequel series. After the massive success of the premiere episode and earlier reports of a Jon Snow sequel in works involving Kit Harington, fans have been demanding spinoffs of their favorite characters. So there’s a really high chance Melisandre might make an appearance in any one of them.
Do you think Melisandre should return to the world of Westeros? Let us know on our discord server.
