Ben Affleck says House of the Dragon can get two seasons per year using AI
AI can prove to be a game changer for House of the Dragon and similar big budget shows says Ben Affleck
Not long ago, the film industry was struck with massive strikes led by SAG-AFTRA, the main concern being the use of AI and the treatment of young writers in Hollywood. While there are still concerns about AI’s use, the world is slowly warming up to it, with industry veterans like Ben Affleck welcoming it with open arms. Ben Affleck says AI will speed up production in the case of big shows like House of the Dragon.
Quick details:
- Ben Affleck thinks AI will reduce production costs.
- Shows like House of the Dragon might be finished in half the time using AI.
- House of the Dragon Season 3 should release in 2026.
Ben Affleck opens up on the use of AI
The growing use of AI has sparked several concerns, especially after some recent tragic incidents involving its use. However, if used correctly, it can reduce a lot of burden, and Hollywood star Ben Affleck agrees that it can end up helping shows like House of the Dragon. In a recent interview on CNBC, the actor said,
“AI for this world of generative video, is gonna do key things for me. Like the individual VFX business, they are in trouble. Because what cost a lot of money is gonna cost a lot less. It’s gonna hammer that space, and maybe it shouldn’t take a thousand people to render something. But it’s not gonna replace human beings, making films. It may make your background more convincing, it may change the color of your shirt. It can fix mistakes that you’ve made.
You know, you might be able to get two seasons of House of the Dragon in a year instead of one. And if that happens according to macroeconomics, you know, in cultures where they are basically or at least competing, what should happen is that the same demand and the same spend so they should just make more shows. Which should in the same span and now you can just watch more episodes.”
House of the Dragon Season 3 is currently under pre-production
While getting two seasons of House of the Dragon in one year might seem like a dream come true to many fans, that is far from reality. The third season of House of the Dragon is currently under pre-production, with filming scheduled to begin in early 2025. The scripts are currently still in the works, as the actors had confirmed that they hadn’t received them yet.
