A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: HBO reveals first look at upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff
Ser Duncan the Tall is looking for a squire.
HBO has long aimed to broaden the Martinverse, with spinoffs envisioned as a long-term goal even before the conclusion of Game of Thrones. While some projects have been shelved, others are currently in different phases of production. A prequel series based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk & Egg novels is in the works and has recently offered a first glimpse.

As soon as House of the Dragon wrapped up its second season, HBO dropped a new teaser for the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Have a look at it yourself:

What is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about?
Here’s the official synopsis of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms:
A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
What is the release date for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is currently under production. Though we do not have an exact release date, Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav revealed the Game of Thrones prequel is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
