Rhaenyra finally sits on the Iron Throne, but in Daemon’s dream in House of the Dragon Season 2 finale
Daemon no longer desires the Irone Throne.

One of the complexities in House of the Dragon‘s second season is the fraying relationship between Daemon and Rhaenyra. After a dramatic crescendo in the first season, they joined forces, breaking all norms. However, preserving the love and affection in their union has become a struggle, unlike any they’ve faced in combat.
Daemon sees Rhaenyra ascend to the Iron Throne
Daemon has gone through a radical transition following his visions at Harrenhal. After coming to terms with his feelings, he realizes he doesn’t actually want the crown. He sees Rhaenyra ascend to the Iron Throne, and their line would go on to Daenerys in Game of Thrones. Daemon then bends the knee to Rhaenyra along with the Riverlords.

How Rhaenyra will conquer King’s Landing with Daemon
Prince Aemond Targaryen and Ser Criston Cole mustered their green-loyalist forces to advance on Harrenhal, leaving King’s Landing almost defenseless. This created an opening that the black-loyalist faction seized.
Prince Daemon Targaryen, mounted on Caraxes, and Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, riding Syrax, flew over the capital, their dragons looping above Aegon’s High Hill. Simultaneously, the fleet of the Sea Snake, Lord Corlys Velaryon, made its approach from the east of Blackwater Bay. This dual assault forced Alicent to surrender at the Red Keep, while Aegon II escaped from King’s Landing.
