The Game of Thrones blooper clips are proof that the cast was always having a good time on the set, regardless of how serious the scenario appeared to be on film. The actors of the prequel House of The Dragon, Matt Smith (Daemon) and Fabien Frankel (Criston), recounted a humorous occurrence that happened during a fighting session on set.

Fabian Frankel got hit with the Morningstar “right in the genitals”

Despite all the safety regulations, filming fight scenes is always going to be quite risky. The first season of House of the Dragon had quite a number of fight sequences, including the famous tourney where we are introduced to Criston Cole. Recalling the filming, the actors remarked how a lot of it was CGI, and said:

Matt Smith: We, like, practiced this for a long time.

Fabien Frankel: Yeah we did. That’s kind of how we got to know each other.

Matt: It was tough. You had that big swingy-star thing – Morningstar.

Fabien: Yeah, the Morningstar. Which would always hit me right in the genitals.

Matt Smith calls Criston Cole’s strike from behind “a cheap shot”

The actors go on to view the entire sequence. Talking about how Daemon began celebrating too early, Matt Smith describes how his arrogance gets the better of him, to which Frankel replies that it was Daemon’s “Hero Time”.

And then Daemon gets struck from behind by Cole, to which Smith exclaims: “Cheap Shot!”

Even Fabien Frankel agrees with him: “Horrendous! So unfair.”
