In a recent promotional video by Entertainment Weekly, actors from House of the Dragon gave a recap of Season 1. The video featured Olivia Cooke, who portrayed Alicent Hightower and Emma D’Arcy, who portrayed Rhaenyra Targaryen in the show. They had a few laughs and gave the viewers valuable information about the show, including a joke about Daeron Targaryen.

The unknown third son of Alicent Hightower

Emma D’Arcy & Olivia Cooke Recap 'House of the Dragon' Season 1 | Entertainment Weekly

Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy while recapping the first season of House of the Dragon mention the family trees and other important characters to the story. One particular character that stood out was Daeron Targaryen, the third son of Alicent Hightower after Aegon and Aemond. They joked about how he didn’t exist in Season 1.

Olivia Cooke mentioned:

“There is a Daeron that we have not mentioned in season 1.. um.. but he does exist, apparently.”

Having three sons questions Rhaenyra’s legitimacy to the throne which is the reason for the start of the civil war. What happened to Rhaenys but indeed happen to Rhaenyra and the throne even though rightfully hers, might be given to King Viserys’ oldest son instead. Fans are excited to see who finally ascends the throne in the upcoming seasons and what part Daeron Targaryen plays in them.

In a fight between Rhaenyra and Alicent’s children, Aemond loses an eye. This further harms the already flimsy relationship between Rhaenyra and Alicent. In return she demands Rhaenyra’s son’s eye. Olivia Cooke then starts laughing while recapping the whereabouts of Rhaenyra who was with Daemon on the beach instead of looking after her children. Emma D’Arcy chuckles while Olivia reminds her of the same while saying:

“But before that the kids are not being looked after because you’re on the beach with Daemon. The kids aren’t accounted for because you were out shagging your uncle.”

These little moments of originality of the actors make such videos more entertaining to watch. We get to see our favorite actors as their actual selves instead of portraying the characters with potentially different personalities or emotional states.
