Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) to lead period drama ‘King and Conqueror’
Game of Thrones features a multitude of captivating characters with equally intriguing narratives, but few come close to Jaime Lannister’s redemption journey, which was performed by actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Even before he took on the role of the Kingslayer, Coster-Waldau was a household figure in Hollywood. His upcoming adventure will once again take him to the medieval period, in the series King and Conqueror.
Who stars in the King and Conqueror?
The cast of CBS Studios’ period drama series King and Conqueror will be led by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Happy Valley’s James Norton. Michael Robert Johnson (Sherlock Holmes) conceived, wrote, and produced the eight-episode series. Baltasar Kormákur (Everest) will helm the inaugural episode and serve as executive producer.
What is King and Conqueror about?
Coster-Waldau will portray William, Duke of Normandy, and Norton, Harold, Earl of Wessex, the two men from the 11th century who would meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Originally allies, neither had any intention of ascending to the British throne, but were driven into a conflict over the crown by circumstance and personal obsession.
What is the release date for King and Conqueror?
The rights to broadcast the series in the United Kingdom on BBC One and BBC iPlayer have been purchased by the BBC. Paramount Global Content Distribution will handle the series’ distribution outside of this region. The release date has yet to be announced.
