Pedro Pascal earns three nominations at Emmy Awards 2023
Pedro Pascal has dominated 2023 with the same plot: a distraught guy who has lost everything meets a little orphan who must be relocated, and the two end up forming an unbreakable bond. And it seems like he is going to rule the rest of 2023 as well, as he recently earned his first Emmy nomination ever, three in fact, all at once.
Pedro Pascal’s Emmy Nominations
The official list of all the nominees for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards was released just yesterday, with several shocking snubs as well as various expected ones. While popular shows like House of the Dragon do not have a single actor in the nominations despite having a widely acknowledged cast, The Last of Us’ Pedro Pascal managed to nab three on his own.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Pedro Pascal was one of the favorites from the start, having played Joel Miller in the wildly popular HBO adaptation of the video game The Last of Us. He has been pitted against Jeff Bridges (The Old Man), Brian Cox (Succession), Kieran Culkin (Succession), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Jeremy Strong (Succession) for the prize.
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series
It was predicted a few months ago that Pascal might earn another nomination for his portrayal of Mario in the Feb. 4 episode of Saturday Night Live. He will be competing against Jon Bernthal (The Bear), Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Nathan Lane (Only Murders in the Building), Oliver Platt (The Bear), and Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso).
Outstanding Narration of a Documentary series
The third nomination Pascal received was for his narration of the CNN documentary series Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World, which explores the unique flora and fauna of the namesake South American region. He will face off against the likes of Morgan Freeman (Our Universe), Angela Bassett (Good Night Oppy), Mahershala Ali (Chimp Empire), and Barack Obama (Working: What We Do All Day).
When will Emmy Awards 2023 air?
