No House of the Dragon actor nominated for Emmy Awards 2023
Game of Thrones has received the most awards in television history. In 2015, the show set a record for the most Primetime Emmy Awards for a series in a single year, winning 12 out of 24 nominations. No other show has come close to that mark yet. Fans were expecting multiple nominations for House of the Dragon at the Emmys, and the show did just that.
House of the Dragon receives Outstanding Drama nomination at the 75th Emmy Awards
The nominations for the 75th Emmy Awards were recently announced just a few minutes ago, and even though fans were expecting a great deal from HBO’s premier fantasy series, it seems like House of the Dragon will have to make peace with a single main nomination. The Game of Thrones prequel has been nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category, along with Succession, The Last of Us, Andor, Yellowjackets, The Crown, Better Call Saul, and The Last of Us.
None of the House of the Dragon actors were nominated for Emmy 2023
Even though House of the Dragon received one main and 8 production-related nominations, quite surprisingly none of the actors were nominated for an award. Even the most critically acclaimed performances of Paddy Considine and Emma D’Arcy were overlooked.
Here are all the categories HOTD was nominated in:
- Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Fantasy Program (One Hour)
- Outstanding Cinematography For A Series (One Hour)
- Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes
- Outstanding Period And/Or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic)

- Outstanding Drama Series
- Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour)
- Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie
They also earned an Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction Or Reality Series for House Of The Dragon: Inside The Episode, separate from the main show.
