The Handmaid’s Tale author says Prince Harry won’t survive the Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones was a royal experience. The show’s indulging storyline, mind-blowing scenery, and fight sequences kept the audience hooked for nearly a decade. We have several real-life counterparts to the fictional infighting, one of them is the story of the British Crown. After falling out with his family, Prince Harry once imagined himself in a situation similar to that in Westeros.
Why wouldn’t Prince Harry survive the Game of Thrones if he was in it?
Margaret Atwood, the author of The Handmaid’s Tale, spoke to The Times on a press tour for her new book Old Babes in the Wood. She talked about several off topics, some of them including British royalty and Game of Thrones. Atwood ruminated that if Prince Harry was born back in the medieval period that inspired Game of Thrones, when British monarchs had absolute power and regularly waged war against rivals from within and outside of their own families, he “probably would have been murdered by somebody lower down in the food chain to get him out the way.”
Have the British Royals watched The Crown?
In an earlier interview, Matt Smith revealed which of the Royals had watched the Crown, which has often been compared with Game of Thrones as a period drama. “I heard the queen had watched it. And she used to watch it on a projector on a Sunday night, apparently. I know that Philip definitely didn’t. A friend of mine sat next to him at a dinner once, and he asked him … My friend couldn’t resist. By the end of the meal, he was like, ‘Philip, I have to ask. Have you watched The Crown?’ And [he] apparently turned ’round to him and went, ‘Don’t be ridiculous.’”
