Bella Ramsey discusses Ellie’s sexuality in The Last of Us HBO adaptation
Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey won millions of hearts playing the young and brave Lyanna Mormont on the HBO fantasy epic, even though her role was short-lived. She accurately portrayed the proud and quirky young warrior as she stabbed a giant wight during her last battle at Winterfell. It seems her days of adventure are not over yet, she has landed yet another action-filled role in HBO’s upcoming video game adaptation The Last of Us, and she’s grateful for it.
The 19-year-old actress is currently playing Ellie in the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. In a recent interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Ramsey talked about how she is glad Ellie’s sexuality wasn’t left out and her being a lesbian will be explored later on in the series. She said, “I wouldn’t have let that happen either. It is part of who she is and what I like about the show is that it’s not made into this huge deal. It’s her existing in this world and loving women… and Joel is cool with it. I think it’s done really well.”

I think representation is important in all facets of life especially on screen where millions of viewers can see themselves in the characters. I’m over LGBTQI storylines that have weak characters or bad endings or make them the “bad person” I’m exhausted by sticks on screen and normal sized women being called plus sized or anyone over a size 14 being a low self esteem nitwit. All we ever wanted was diversity on screen and representation in positive and in a multitude of story lines… not just stereotypical tropes Hollywood thinks the world wants to watch. Thank you Bella.
