HBO responds to viewers’ outrage over scenes too dark to see in House of The Dragon Episode 7

Game of Thrones might have left a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of fans with its controversial final season. However, the prequel House of The Dragon is trying hard to relive the glory days of the massive franchise, and seems to have been highly successful so far. It has a similar feel to that of Game of Thrones, in terms of cinematography, themes, and brutal and gory action, and yet stands in its own right as a much different story. However, the seventh episode, which premiered earlier this week, annoyed a lot of fans as it reminded them of the color palette used in the Battle of Winterfell in the final season of Game of Thrones.
Once the episode aired, there were many complaints across social media platforms that the majority of the scenes were simply too dark to see anything. In response to some of the angry reactions, HBO’s official Twitter account wrote, “We appreciate you reaching out about a night scene in House of the Dragon: Episode 7 appearing dark on your screen. The dimmed lighting of this scene was an intentional creative decision.”
Hi Stephen! We appreciate you reaching out about a night scene in House of the Dragon: Episode 7 appearing dark on your screen. The dimmed lighting of this scene was an intentional creative decision. Thanks! ^LL

Both the episodes, House of The Dragon Season 1’s Driftmark and Game of Thrones Season 8’s The Long Night, were directed by Emmy winner Miguel Sapochnik. Do you think he made the right choice by making the scenes really dim for the last episode? Join the discussion on our Discord server.
