‘The World of Ice & Fire’ among the 2000 books banned by authorities in Connecticut prisons
George R. R. Martin is one of the most celebrated writers in the world today. The TV adaptation of his work, Game of Thrones, has been dubbed the greatest TV show of the 21st century. However, there are fans who still prefer his written works over the TV show, one of the reasons why so many of them are waiting for his next book in the series The Winds of Winter. Unfortunately for the residents of the Connecticut prisons, they have just lost the privilege of doing so as well.
According to The Provider Journal, Martin’s books are among the works on the state’s list of over 2,000 banned works, which also include issues of ESPN and GQ as well as a book on how to draw superheroes. The Journal specifically mentions George R. R. Martin’s The World of Ice & Fire, which is kind of a reference book for the series, being banned for “safety and security reasons.” Meanwhile, the first and fourth volumes of the Game of Thrones graphic novel are banned on account of their sexually explicit material.

These books have been rejected on account of being “detrimental to the security, good order, or discipline of the institution or if it might facilitate criminal activity.”
