HBO finally dropped the full official trailer for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon, and it was worth the wait. While the trailer displayed several Targaryen dragons in all of their humongous glory, there were some other details about the storyline of Season 1 that were revealed. While a lot of them are quite obvious, some of them might have slipped your attention, considering a lot of Game of Thrones fans awaiting the prequel series are unaware of the Fire & Blood book. Let’s have a look at some of these details that are easy to miss in the new House of The Dragon trailer.

Viserys bleeds on Iron Throne

The first detail that is quite easy to miss is the shot where we see King Viserys Targaryen’s hand bleed as he places it on the Iron Throne. There can be several interpretations of this imagery. For example, one, ruling the 7 kingdoms is not an easy task, and two, the Iron Throne is rejecting his rule.

The dragon pit

Once the Targaryen’s consolidated their rule, their dragons spent a lot more time locked in the dragon pit than outside. We have seen the remains of the very same pit in Game of Thrones.

Faith of the Seven

The Hightowers were staunch followers of the Faith of the Seven, the same religious militia we see in Game of Thrones. Notice the similarity between Alicent Hightower and Cersei Lannister’s costume design, once they become Queen Regent/Queen. The only difference is the starry necklace, depicting the difference in their beliefs.

Armoured saddles for dragons

The Targaryens had developed massive riding gears for their dragons, that helped in combat as well as provided comfort while riding. This tech became nonexistent by the time Daenerys was born in ASOIAF.

Aemond “One-Eye” Targaryen

Alicent Hightower’s second son and younger brother of Aegon II Targaryen, and the future rider of Vhagar, the largest dragon in Westeros at the time, makes a brief appearance in the trailer.

Vhagar

Though the entirety of the dragon’s body is not shown, one can only imagine the massive size of the fabled dragon from the foot that was shown in the clip, living since the age of Aegon’s Conquest. A split-second clip of Aemond is also shown in the same sequence, and he seems to be having both of his eyes. Is this the moment he claimed Vhagar as his ride?

Dorne at the Battle of Stepstones

In a very brief clip, we see Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon busy fighting off hordes of soldiers, some of them wearing similar costumes as soldiers of Dorne from Game of Thrones. This is a nod to the fact that Dorne joined the Triarchy to oppose Daemon and his army at Stepstones, which made it more difficult for the Targaryens to conquer Stepstones.

Daemon’s crown

In one of the clips, Daemon Targaryen is stopped by Ser Harrold Westerling as he walks toward his brother, King Viserys, while wearing a strange-looking crown. It is the coronation crown that he got for himself after conquering Stepstones, got bored after a while, and returned to Viserys to make amends.

Criston Cole’s Morningstar

Ser Criston Cole will play an important role in House of The Dragon, and his preferred weapon of choice, Cole’s famed Morningstar, makes an appearance in the clip where he is shattering Daemon’s defenses at a tourney with it.

Baratheon Knight

A Baratheon Knight also makes an appearance in a brief shot at the Tourney. Most speculate it is Ser Borros Baratheon, Lord of Storm’s End, one of the supporters of the Hightowers from the books.
