Game of Thrones Season 8 directors revealed. All time bests set to return
Game of Thrones is a good show not only because of the powerful series by George R. R. Martin that it is based on, but because the production that HBO put together has been consistently doing a great job. Game of Thrones has has a great set of directors over the years, and as the series draws to a close with its final season, Season 8, one shouldn’t expect any less. The directors for Game of Thrones Season 8 have just been revealed, and fan favorites are set to return. Read on!
Entertainment Weekly broke the news, and Season 8 looks good already. First off,Miguel Sapochnik will be returning for this season. He is known as one of the very best directors the show has had till date, having had directed two Season 6 episodes : The Battle of the Bastards” and “The Winds of Winter,” and he has even won an Emmy for his work on the show. He didn’t return for Season 7, but he is all set to return for the last one. Secondly, David Nutter, the other Game of Thrones director with an Emmy for his work on it, will return for Season 8. He is known as “the pilot whisperer”, having launched successful shows like The X-Files, ER and The Flash. He is credited for six Game of Thrones episodes, including the Season 5 finale, “Mother’s Mercy,” and the Red Wedding episode from Season 3, titled “The Rains of Castamere.”
The best part of this reveal is that while two of the best directors of the show are returning, they won’t be directing the Season 8 finale. That will be directed by none other than the showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss. It is almost a tradition now that the showrunners take charge of the finale of their show. What’s unknown is, whose name will appear on the credits. The director’s guild rules allow for only one name to take that place, and Dan and David have switched turns with the previous episodes they have directed, so it will be interesting to see what they do for this one.
As far as the number of episodes per director go, the report says Sapochnik will direct at least two, possibly even three, but it’s unknown how many Nutter and David and Dan will handle, so more on that as it develops. Are you excited yet? We sure are! Talk to us in the comments, down below!
