Warner Bros to adapt George R.R. Martin’s Ice Dragon short story into an animated film
Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin has been building his fantasy world since the ’90s. And it’s ever-growing. And the fandom grows along with it, welcoming new audiences through the shows – Game of Thrones, and its prequel, House of The Dragon. The world of Westeros isn’t the only fictional place he has created, there are lots more. Martin’s Night of The Cooters recently won the ‘Best Science Fiction Short’ at the LA Shorts International Film Festival. And now, Warner Bros is planning to adapt Martin’s another novel called the Ice Dragon into an animated feature.
In an interview with Penguin Random House, Martin said, “Some of you may know I have other books. I occasionally wrote other books that were not part of Westeros. And one of them that I wrote way back in 1978 was a short story about a dragon, an Ice Dragon. And it’s called The Ice Dragon. Just a short story, as I said it’s primarily a kid’s story. We are going to make it. Warner Bros animation has purchased the rights to it. We are going to expand it to a fully animated film from Warner Brothers animation.”
