Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is on everyone’s lips right now, after the recent announcement of the release date by HBO. The series is slated for a release in August, and fans are really hyped up about it. Avid readers of George R. R. Martin’s works are looking forward to seeing some of their favorite characters from the novel Fire and Blood, as the show is based on an infamous incident from its storyline. The cast and the crew recently talked about the upcoming prequel explaining how it is not Game of Thrones but still a part of Game of Thrones.

In a new video released by the Game of Thrones Youtube channel, the camera pans the entirety of the new spiky and enormous Iron Throne. Paddy Considine (Viserys Targaryen) and Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon) recall their casting calls while several shots from the production are seen fleeting in-between. Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen talks about the show’s legacy and enormous fanbase while Milly Alcock, who plays Rhaenyra’s younger self, chuckles nervously as she realizes the enormous pressure of living up to the original.

Miguel Sapochnik says, “How do we make Thrones but not Thrones? What’s good about Thrones? What worked in Thrones and what didn’t? What do we want better? How do we want to evolve the style?”

Ryan Condal explains, “It wasn’t just a prequel for prequel’s sake. There actually was a reason to tell the story. The Targaryens are this fascinating dynasty that we don’t really know much about from the original books because at that point they’ve all died out. There was this once great day when there were dozens of Targaryens running around and a bunch of dragons and they ruled over Westeros. It was a time of peace and prosperity. And everybody knew that if you messed with the Targaryens, you get the dragons. So no one dared to overthrow them.”
