House of The Dragon’s Paddy Considine (King Viserys) theorizes why Game of Thrones finale received so much hate
Game of Thrones Season 8 wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. The season finale divided the fan base into two. One was satisfied with the ending, the other demanded a season remake. Some blamed the absence of George R. R. Martin’s next installment of books. While some blamed the showrunners’ piqued interest to launch a Star Wars feature film trilogy with Disney’s Lucasfilm. Even the show’s alum Emilia Clarke gets why fans were f**king p***ed about the final episode. House of The Dragon star Paddy Considine, who will play King Viserys I Targaryen in the upcoming prequel, has his own theory regarding why the final season failed.
Considine told Entertainment Weekly, “When you live with something for so many years and watch those characters on that adventure, I think people start to write their own endings. I feel like a bit of that probably happened. And I was probably one of them, as well.”
House of The Dragon’s showrunner Ryan Condal also joined him, “People are always going to have something to say about the way a beloved thing comes to an end. What they say doesn’t really affect the way we approach this. We have this huge legacy to carry forward. [And we want to] do that in the best way that honors what came before, but also doesn’t do the thing that I think a lot of sequels do: Here’s [what] you love wrapped up in a different packaging.”
