‘Supernatural’ stars apparently played a role in The Last of Us’ success
The HBO adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game The Last of Us successfully completed its first season, and it was a roaring success. It broke a number of records when the season finale aired, surpassing the likes of House of The Dragon in terms of overall viewership. And it seems two Supernatural stars think that they had a hand in the show’s massive popularity.
Misha Collins thinks that The Last of Us is a “Misha/Jensen spinoff”
Collins, who played the fan-favorite angel, Castiel, on CW’s hit Supernatural, joked on his Twitter account that HBO owes them royalties for being responsible for The Last of Us’ widespread acclaim. Addressing his post to his co-star and friend Jensen Ackles, who played one of the two leads, Dean Winchester, on Supernatural, he wrote:
“Have you been getting royalties from @HBO?? As you can see from this video, The Last of Us video game owes its success to its two most recognizable and central characters, “Misha and Jensen,” and by extension, the hit HBO series @TheLastofUsHBO is basically a @mishacollins/@JensenAckles spin-off, so obviously, we should be getting checks. But for some reason, I still haven’t gotten any residual payments from them. Let me know if your agent has any info.”
Jensen Ackles was getting secret paychecks from HBO!
In response to Collins’ hilarious tweet, Ackles joked that he was already getting them. He replied, “Oh…that’s where all these checks are comin from. Good lookin out buddy.”

What are Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins doing now?
While Ackles recently reprised his beloved character in the Supernatural spinoff, The Winchesters, he has also been gearing up to return as the original Soldier Boy in The Boys Season 4, which is on the way. On the other hand, Collins has joined the DC Universe as Harvey Dent/Two Face in Gotham Knights TV show, which is currently airing on CW and HBO Max.
