Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is the most highly anticipated show of 2022, and for good reasons. It topped IMDb’s list of most awaited television shows of 2022, and the official trailer that was launched recently gathered a lot of positive views. Even the world premiere was a grand success, with fans and critics labeling it as a worthy successor to Game of Thrones. This time, the dragons are coming back to Westeros, and the audience will be taken back to a time when Targaryens were at their peak.

In a new video recently released by House of The Dragon Twitter account, George R. R. Martin and the showrunners, Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, explain how House of The Dragon is different from Game of Thrones, even though both of them are set in the same universe.

The video begins with Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen being named the heir to the Iron Throne, next in line after her father, King Viserys Targaryen. Ryan Condal goes on to explain how the Targaryen history is fascinating because not much is known about their past, and most of them had died out by the time of Game of Thrones. He says the viewers know that this is another struggle for the Iron Throne, but the unique thing is that instead of two different families fighting for the throne as in Game of Thrones, House of The Dragon will see conflict within the same family i.e. the Targaryens.

Miguel Sapochnik and George R. R. Martin explain how the Dance of the Dragons plays an important role in Targaryen history, and the cast members (Paddy Considine, Milly Alcock and Matt Smith) explain a bit more about their characters.
