Jerome Flynn (Bronn) joins campaign against UK Government to ban factory farming
There were many side characters on Game of Thrones, but few were as funny as Jerome Flynn’s Bronn. The actor once joked about how he improvised on set by grabbing Daniel Portman’s (Pod) crotch in a scene. Everyone’s favourite sellsword was kind of forgotten in the final season. Jerome Flynn, however, has joined the campaigners taking legal action against the UK government to ban factory farming.
The Game of Thrones star is an ambassador for Scrap Factory Farming – led by renowned human rights lawyer Michael Mansfield QC. Non-profit Humane Being is behind the campaign – which is crowdfunding the £60,000 needed for the judicial review of government policy. It is an entirely volunteer-run initiative that calls for an end of intensive farming methods to prevent further pandemics.
In a statement sent to PBN, Flynn said: “It is starkly clear to me that there cannot be a future for mankind in a world where factory farms still exist.
“This is our time now to put things right…”
Last year, lawyers acting for Humane Being wrote to the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). It queried the government’s plans regarding factory farming and related threats to human health.
However, the organization says Defra’s response ‘played down’ the issues linked to factory farming. Now, the legal team has filed the court action and papers have been served to Defra.

Some actors are so good at portraying a character that we end up thinking they’re born for this role. When you think of the character, that actor pops in your head first automatically. Pedro Pascal is one of the most successful actors in the entertainment industry currently. He has a number of memorable roles under his belt such as Game of Thrones’ charming Oberyn Martell. Currently, he has gained a huge fan following for playing the role of Din Djarin on The Mandalorian. With so many decade-defining roles up his sleeve, no wonder fans would love to see him more on the silver screen. Pascal will now appear in Casillero advertising for TV, video and social media.
Further details of the campaign, titled ‘Wine Legend’ and set to run later this year, were not disclosed.
“The selection of Pedro Pascal as the new legend is a historic event for Casillero del Diablo, as it marks our first appointment of a global brand ambassador,” said Casillero’s global marketing director, Sebastián Aguirre. “Pascal is a celebrity well known around the world who is enjoying an extraordinary moment in his career.”
Earlier this year, Concha y Toro broke Casillero’s Chile exclusivity, unveiling a Tempranillo varietal from Spain in the UK. The group has started the year well, posting an 8% lift in sales from the three months to the end of March.
Last year, Pascal was named the Entertainer of the Year by Entertainment Weekly magazine. What do you think of Pascal’s selection as the ambassador? Tell us in the comments below!
The discrimination against women is a curse that our society still bears even in the 21st century. Gender-based violence is a mockery of the social values we strive so hard to perfect. According to a recent study, about 97% of women have faced some kind of molestation in their lives. It is an alarming sign that shows how unsafe our world has become for half of humanity. Even though majority of Game of Thrones staff ardently fights for women’s safety, unfortunately, one alum has been accused of molestation charges. Actor Elyes Gabel has been accused of assaulting his girlfriend and was arrested in New York City last week. Gabel played the Dothraki warrior Rakharo on Game of Thrones.
Gabel’s girlfriend is keeping her identity private, but the details of her case are beginning to emerge. She told police that Gable used both of his hands to “apply pressure” to her throat, “forcefully squeezing it” and resulting in “redness and substantial pain.” She also said that Gabel spat in her face and insulted her with misogynistic slurs, adding: “I’m going to punch your f—ing face in.”
Gabel’s lawyers issued a statement to reporters denying all these allegations, but they will have to defend their story in court. He was released without bail and is due back in court on July 7.
Recently, Game of Thrones actress Esmé Bianco accused Marilyn Manson of sexual assault. What steps do you think we can take to prevent crime against women? Tell us in the comments below!
Fans of Game of Thrones all around the world are already on their toes, ever since House of The Dragon started filming. Every now and then we get sneak peeks at the set as the shooting progresses every day. There’s more good news for the admirers of the Martinverse. It looks like HBO are moving forward with another Game of Thrones spinoff show ‘10,000 Ships‘. And they have already chosen the navigator to steer the upcoming series. Amanda Segel, co-exec producer on Hulu’s Helstrom, has been tapped to write the spinoff show, according to Deadline.
The drama will follow the journey made by warrior queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars. They travelled from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War. This migration took place around 1,000 years before the events depicted in the A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, named her direwolf after Nymeria.
Segel’s past writing credits also include CBS’ The Good Wife (also as the producer). She developed a TV series based on the video game Skull and Bones from Ubisoft.
The 10,000 Ships will be the second prequel series, if given the green light to production. House of The Dragon is fast on its track already. Let’s hope this show doesn’t get scrapped like the spinoff Blood Moon!
