Interview
We finally know why Jaime Lannister avoided voyages on Game of Thrones
Even while the backstories of many of the characters in Game of Thrones are intriguing, none are as good as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau‘s depiction of Jaime Lannister and his journey toward redemption. Though Jaime went through a lot going to extremes for love, we didn’t see him going on long-distance sea voyages a lot. And we finally might know the answer to that question.
Here’s why Jaime Lannister never avoided voyages on-screen on Game of Thrones
We rarely ever saw Jaime Lannister stay on the waters for long. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has a very good reason for not doing sea-faring scenes. He told Jimmy Kimmel, when the host learned Coster-Waldau gets sea-sick fairly easily, in a recent interview, “Oh God, yeah. It’s like the schoolboy era. Just before I get on the boat, I proclaim to the world, “By the way, I never get seasick.” I got these strong sea legs.”
“And cut to two hours later, we were way out, and I was in the water for two hours, and you know the big waves. Slowly I could feel [imitating a wave]. So I get up and then I have to do this interview with this very sweet Swiss scientist. And she was going to explain what they were doing. And you know that thing that you get warm water in your mouth… I’m just talking to her and she’s trying to explain. She’s really excited, and I’m just like [imitates feeling sick]… and then I.. uh… hurled.”
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would love to work with Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) again
Coster-Waldau was asked if he would like to collaborate with his Game of Thrones co-star once more in an interview. He replied, “Yes. Absolutely. If you find us something, please let us know.”
He also went on to praise Christie’s performance in Wednesday, “She’s just fantastic. She’s hilarious. She’s just a very, very good actor, and smart, and incredible, and she’s great. I couldn’t be more thrilled that she’s getting so much success now. It couldn’t happen to a better person.”
