House of the Dragon Season 2 theory points towards Baela and Rhaenys’ tragic fate
The most recent House of the Dragon Season 2 teaser has sparked a lot of comments and arguments. Following the release of the most recent eye-opening teaser, fans have been itching to find out the answers to many pressing issues. Fans were drawn to two clips in particular because they appeared to be in the same location throughout the many scenes and snippets in the House of the Dragon Season 2 teaser. We see Ser Criston Cole galloping across a clear field on his horse, being chased by Baela Targaryen.
Why is Baela Targaryen chasing Criston Cole?
Many eagle-eyed viewers might’ve caught that both the snippets with Cole and Baela belong to the same scene. And by the looks of it, Cole is fleeing from her. But why is she even on the battlefield?
One theory suggests that in the Battle of Rook’s Rest, it is Baela who arrived first. She might’ve been motivated by Daemon, or the fact that Rhaenyra overlooked her use on the battlefield. So she might’ve flown headfirst into the battlefield to prove her worth.
After knowing of her departure, Rhaenys might’ve flown directly after her granddaughter to stop her. She might’ve convinced her to go back, or to possibly even get backup, after realizing they’ve been lured into a trap by Cole, forcing Rhaenys to stay and fight.
Alternate theory about why Baela is on the battlefield
There’s another theory that has been up in the air on Reddit since the final House of the Dragon trailer reveal. As presented by Prometheseus, what we are seeing is the aftermath of the battle. Seeing Rhaenys and Meleys’ charred remains, Baela would’ve lost her mind and attempted to retrieve them, but lost Cole and his soldiers in the forest. However, one thing to note is that his armor looks pretty undamaged, which hints at the scene taking place at the beginning of the trailer.
