House of the Dragon Episode 10 was the most viewed HBO finale since Game of Thrones ended
The first Game of Thrones prequel spinoff House of the Dragon had a spectacular first season. Its viewership has consistently recorded the biggest numbers ever seen for HBO, especially a fantasy series, since Game of Thrones. Deadline reported more than 9 million people watched the season one finale of the spinoff on the night of the official release, despite the episode being leaked days before.
Comparatively, the Game of Thrones series finale night in 2019 saw 19.3 million viewers. The chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max, Casey Bloys released a statement. He says, “We’re so thrilled to see House of the Dragon catch fire with Game of Thrones fans around the world, as well as new viewers who are discovering the world of Westeros for the first time. Congrats to George, Ryan, Miguel, and the whole House of the Dragon team on an incredible first season.”
The success of House of the Dragon is undeniable. It proves that there is still a huge audience waiting for the next look into the Game of Thrones universe.
