Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin is one of the most accomplished novelists today, with some of the best-selling books under his belt. The veteran author is already associated with a bunch of new shows, including Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon. He is known for leaving certain details out of his stories, leaving it to the fans’ imaginations, so that they can decipher them on their own.

One of these details that has been a mystery ever since the publication of Fire & Blood was the Fire at Harrenhal that killed Ser Lyonel Strong and his son, Ser Harwin. At the time, Martin only left it in the air as to who was the culprit behind the fire, and the rumors ranged from Visreys being the one behind it, to protect his family’s honor, to Daemon doing it out of jealousy to gain Rhaenyra’s love.

The sixth episode of House of The Dragon put down all those theories to rest, as it finally confirmed who really caused the fire. Even though the great castle of Harrenhal has been said to carry a curse, and has been burned down more times than any other building in Westeros, the person behind the killing was none other than Ser Larys ‘Clubfoot’ Strong.

Ser Larys has been compared to the likes of Varys and Littlefinger from Game of Thrones, while some call him the anti-Tyrion. He goes to great lengths, perfectly orchestrating his every move to increase his influence over the court, via Alicent.
