HBO releases new photos from House of the Dragon Season 2

After a long period of releasing news regarding casting and filming, HBO is finally releasing footage from the upcoming House of the Dragon Season 2. The second season of the Game of Thrones prequel is set to release sometime during Summer 2024.

The teaser trailer for House of the Dragon season 2 was released during CCXP in Brazil, which is one of the biggest pop culture events in the world. Soon after this, HBO also released some gorgeous high-definition photos of our favorite characters from House of the Dragon Season 2, giving fans insights into their new looks and how they have changed since Season 1.

Rhaenyra and Daemon at Dragonstone

Daemon and Rhaenyra appear to be sharing a quiet moment in this new still released by HBO. Though Daemon looks much the same as he did in Season 1, Rhaenyra’s hair is noticeably different and she appears to be attired for battle.

Many fans are speculating that DAemon is whispering his fabled line from the book Fire and Blood: “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys shall be avenged.”

Daemon armored and ready for battle at Harrenhal

In this picture, Daemon Targaryen is fully dressed for battle, wearing armor very similar to what we saw him wearing in the Stepstones. Speculations say that he is in the castle of Harrenhal, scenes of which we saw in the teaser trailer as well.

Rhaenyra at Shipbreaker Bay

Rhaenyra looks ahead with a grim expression as she discovers the remains of her son, Prince Lucerys. This shot is exactly similar to the one from the trailer where she is looking over at Shipbreaker Bay with Storm’s End in the distance.

Her clothes and riding gloves are vaguely similar to what young Rhaenyra wore while riding Syrax in Season 1, and it’s evident she has landed after flying here on dragonback.

Corlys planning battle strategies at the Painted Table

The Sea Snake Corlys Velaryon stands near the Painted Table of Dragonstone in this picture. This is where the Black Council planned their war strategies and decided to rally the Riverlords at the castle of Harrenhal.

Alicent escaping rioters in King’s Landing

The people of King’s Landing are not happy during Season 2. This is evident in this picture of Queen Alicent narrowly avoiding an attack from rioting citizens during the funeral of her grandson, Prince Jaehaerys.

Otto conversing with Alicent in the Tower of the Hand

Otto Hightower may lose his chain of office in Season 2, but he will not lose his daughter’s confidence. Here, we see him with Alicent, either comforting her or, most likely, plotting.

The picture appears to be from the period when he was still the Hand of the King, or based on the chests of luggage, just after he was dismissed.

Aemond in quiet contemplation

Aemond is about to terrorize the Seven Kingdoms as the Dance of the Dragons begins in earnest. When his brother is injured, he will sit atop the Iron Throne briefly, but he is not there yet.

In this picture, he is sitting in an armchair at what appears to be King’s Landing.
