The one true heir: The Greens blame Rhaenyra as they hold Prince Jaehaerys’ funeral in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2

It was a bit different than what we’ve seen in the books, though.

House of the Dragon Season 2 has lived up to fans’ expectations. With its intense drama and fierce rivalries, the first episode has kept viewers riveted, eagerly anticipating the next unexpected twist in the story. The latest episode sees the denizens of Flea Bottom witness Prince Jaehaerys’ funeral procession, which was teased during the production a year ago.

Flea Bottom attends Jaehaerys’ funeral, but not like in Fire & Blood

The upcoming war has negatively affected the realm, the poor most of all. However, the scene is quite different in Fire & Blood. As they bear the brunt of war expenses, they Flea Bottom citizens against the Greens, as seen during the Royal Funeral, and begin to chant Rhaenyra’s name (which may/may not have been Daemon’s doing). However, there is no such scene in the episode.

The scene is reminiscent of the riot in “Game of Thrones” Season 2, where an enraged mob in Flea Bottom unleashes its fury upon Joffrey, Cersei, Tyrion, and Sansa. The citizens’ desperation stems from the starvation caused by the Battle of the Blackwater, instigated by Joffrey. Sansa is saved by the Hound, who subsequently departs from King’s Landing.

Tom Glynn-Carney hates Aegon getting compared with Joffrey

Currently, Tom Glynn-Carney’s portrayal of Aegon II stands out as one of the most contemptible characters in House of the Dragon. He revealed in a recent interview his intention to depict Aegon distinctively, diverging from the infamy of Joffrey. He said:

“I didn’t want that. My aim this time was to try and make someone so unrelatable relatable. When you look at him and go, ‘He’s just a lunatic and he’s unhinged and he’s dangerous and he’s toxic,’ you fall into a trap where you’re playing that and using it as a sort of template. I think he’s way more layered.”
