Have you noticed the fantastic chemistry between Rhaenyra Targaryen (played by the talented Emma D’Arcy) and her son Jacaerys (brought to life by the charming Harry Collett)? Their on-screen relationship is extraordinary. From Harry’s heartfelt praise for Emma to his enthusiastic audition for the role of Jacaerys, it’s apparent that he’s super passionate about the show and his character.

The Audition Adventure

Harry Collett was on a mission to land a role, but he needed to figure out what he was getting himself into! The casting calls were like a secret agent briefing – his character’s name was “Jack,” and the show was mysteriously titled “Untitled HBO Series.” It wasn’t until he got to the final audition that the truth came out: it was a Game of Thrones spin-off! No wonder he was nervous. Harry Collett in an interview with Esquire mentioned,

“For my first two or three self-tapes, my name was Jack and the title of the series was Untitled HBO Series. I had absolutely no idea until they told me before my last audition, which was physically in the studio. I remember someone saying, “Oh yeah, by the way, this is a Game of Thrones spin-off.” And I was like, “What? You’re telling me all this time, I’ve been going for a Game of Thrones spin-off? That’s huge.”

A Surprising Twist of Harry Collet auditioning for Rhaenyra

But here’s the kicker, Harry auditioned for a scene that had nothing to do with his actual character, Jacaerys. He was essentially auditioning for Rhaenyra’s role without even realizing it. Luckily, he still managed to land the role of Jacaerys, so it all worked out in the end. But still, what a wild audition ride.

“But it made my nerves worse in a sense, because I was like, Now I definitely cannot mess this up. The scene that I was given for the audition was me confiding in my little brother, and it was actually a scene between Rhaenyra and Luke. It wasn’t anything to do with Jace. So I practically auditioned for Rhaenyra. [Laughs.] It’s quite clever, doing it that way.”
