It has been nearly a decade since George R. R. Martin’s last book in the series A Song of Ice and Fire was released. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the next book Winds of Winter, and even though the author keeps assuring them that yes, he is still working on the novel, they have been growing restless. And we can’t blame them, a decade is such a long time, and many are worried if he will be finishing it anytime soon. Martin keeps teasing the fans about the upcoming novel, as he did recently, in a precarious way.

Martin’s new series Dark Winds is on the way, and the first trailer for the series was recently released by AMC. In his latest blog on Not A Blog, he talked about the trailer, aptly titled “The Winds of June“. He wrote:

“The Dark Winds will start blowing in June. June 12, to be precise. That’s the day that DARK WINDS, a new series based on the classic bestselling Navajo detective novels by Tony Hillerman, will premiere on AMC and AMC+. I have blogged about the show before, but this is the first time we have had a release date.”

“The first season of DARK WINDS is six episodes, based largely on Tony Hillerman’s novel LISTENING WOMAN, with a bit of PEOPLE OF DARKNESS mixed in for good measure. Do go out and grab those books (we have copies at Beastly Books)… and pick up four or five of Tony’s other novels as well. We’re hoping they will be the basis for future seasons. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee had some amazing cases.

AMC has released the first trailer. Here, have a taste.”

Unfortunately, Martin’s recent actions have left a bitter taste in the mouths of several fans, especially talking about the painfully long wait for his next book, and teasing fans about the same seems a bit unfair.
